Testing the Cambria Top!

Puff sleeves and bishop sleeves are so popular right now! They are all over Pinterest and Instagram and it’s only fitting that they are popping up among pdf pattern groups. I was excited when Greenstyle Creations designed a pattern with both, the Cambria Top! The Greenstyle drafting is top notch and I am glad I had the opportunity to sew this one up.

This pattern is loaded with options. Multiple sleeve options, lengths, hem options, and necklines! The sleeve options include a gathered or pleated puff sleeve or a normal shoulder bishop sleeve. Sleeve lengths include short, 3/4, or long. The long sleeve has the option of a normal cuff or a long cuff. The lengths of the top include high or low hip. You can choose to add the optional band or hem. The bodice also comes in an easy fit or slimmer option. The neckline is finished with a binding and you can choose from a mock turtleneck, high or low crew, or a wide scoop. With all these options, you’ll have many different looking top made from one pattern!

I chose to make the bishop sleeve (no puff!). I made the long sleeved version with regular cuff, the easy fit, longest length, hemmed, with the low crew neckline. This is a size E to F hip, with a lazy small bust adjustment. I also lengthened the bodice about 1/2″ for my height.

I am slowly working on adding styles to my closet that are functional and comfortable. I don’t have many long sleeve tops, but find I prefer them these days since we rarely leave our home (thanks, pandemic).

I used the Dark Teal Bamboo Lycra Jersey fabric from The Fabric Fairy. This color is no longer in stock, but many other fabulous colors are! The drape and weight of this fabric is perfect for this top!

This is the perfect top for comfort with a bit of put together style! I like the hemmed version to wear down or with a little front tuck (even in joggers!). It looks great while on zoom meetings, also! I am planning on wearing it for our Thanksgiving meal so I’ll look cute on FaceTime when chatting with family. 🙂

Don’t forget to grab your copy of the Cambria Top while it is on sale for only $7.80 through November 24th! Which version are you going to sew up first?

As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers!
Caitlin
