I had another opportunity for testing at Sinclair Patterns and am excited to show you the Rio Tank! This tank is a great summer staple and it is loaded with options.
The tank comes in Sinclair‘s three height options: petite, standard, and tall. The size range is inclusive, covering sizes US0-US30, which translates to hip sized 33.9″ to 63″. I measure into the US4 bust and grade to a US8 hip.
The tank has two back options: a full back and a racerback. There are two heights as well, giving you the option to make a flattering tank or above the knee dress. There also is an option for a solid front or a color blocked front.
The tank is finished with a double fold knit binding for a clean, finished look. One new technique to me, is finishing the curved hem with a facing! This provides a neat, crisp finish on that curve.
For this version, I chose to make a solid front, full back, tank. I used a ribbed 2×1 polyester rayon spandex knit fabric from Bow Button Fabrics in Neon Green. Green is sold out but there are a few other colors available. The fabric works well for this fabric. It is a medium weight fabric at 220gsm with lots of horizontal stretch and just a touch of vertical.
I followed the instructions on this one and love all the finishes. I have another version in progress that I will add to this post in a few days! I really like how styling of the Rio Tank takes it from sporty to casual. Sinclair Patterns did well with this pattern!
Grab your tank by May 20th for the sale price of only $5.99!!
As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!
