I am loving the (kind of) new Curved Hem Pocket Tank by Ellie and Mac! The best part? This pattern is free on their website! Who doesn’t love free patterns? I love them even more when they are well drafted and unique!
First, I wanted to use my latest color of Bamboo Lycra Jersey Knit from The Fabric Fairy: Salsa Orange. This color is out of my comfort zone, but I LOVE it! This is one of my favorite fabrics for casual tops, also.
The back of the tank has great coverage, so bra straps won’t show. The back also has a seam down the middle, so the back is more contoured to fit well. The curves in the hemline are the perfect depth to create a flattering look and the neckline is a nice in between neckline that works well with most body types.
I made a Small chest graded to Medium waist and hips. I also lengthened the pattern about an inch at the waist. The pocket is a basic squared shape that can be added onto the tank. For this one, I chose a contrasting fabric and love the look!
My second tank I used up some fabrics I had on hand from The Fabric Fairy where I made this pullover. I had enough of the Heathered Charcoal and Ivory Stripes Rayon Lycra Jersey for the majority of the front of the tank. I guessed a color block point for the front that I hoped to work.
I paired the rest of the tank with the Heathered Charcoal Bamboo Cotton Spandex Jersey. These fabrics are thicker and a bit more structured which creates a slightly boxier look. I still love the fit and am wearing this tank as I type! Fabric choice is something to keep in mind when making your pattern.
In other news, has anyone picked up any new hobbies? A friend of mine gave me some sourdough starter, so I made my first couple of loaves of sourdough bread! It is delicious!
As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!
