I had the opportunity to join The Pattern Emporium in the testing of one of their latest patterns. I had not tested for them before, but I loved the process! Plus, I got a couple of gorgeous new tops out of the deal. π
The new pattern I tested was Hello Gorgeous. The other that also just released is the Keep It Simple Babe! Hello Gorgeous is a beautiful puff sleeve with a semi-fitted body. The sleeves have four lengths: short, above elbow, below elbow, and long. They can all be banded or left open/flowy. The necklines are gorgeous and include a nice rounded square neckline that is incredibly easy to sew up and a rounded neckline. Both have a high or low option. The pattern also includes regular and tall length!
I first sewed up a size 10. I made the short sleeve and the lower square neckline. I used the tall length and did not need any other modifications throughout the tee.
I ended up figuring out that I should have made an 8 based on my measurements, so the first one is a bit looser than normal. This one is made in a gorgeous mauve rayon spandex from Phee Fabrics. Unfortunately this color is out of stock, but there are other beautiful fall and winter colors in stock!
I like the drape of Hello Gorgeous in this Rayon Spandex. The sleeves aren’t quite as puffy as a sturdier knit, but definitely is more my style this way.
The second version I went with a size 8. I made the lower rounded neckline with the below elbow sleeves. I debated not banding the sleeves, but ultimately love the look of the bands on this version.
This one is sewn up in the Lilac Double Brushed Polyester from Boho Fabrics. Again, this fabric has a lot of drape, so the sleeves appear less puffy than other fabrics. This length is perfect for fall weather! I paired this one with some work appropriate pants.
I definitely went a little outside of my comfort zone with this top, as puffy sleeves are not something I would normally pick out in a store, but I’m loving the look of this top! I’m so glad I had the opportunity to sew this one up and am already planning a plain black version. π
Here is what I used:
