M&M Parachute Pants

This was the very first knit pattern I made about 2.5 years ago. I was looking for something to fit over my Little’s cloth diaper and chunky baby legs… and this was it! This was a family favorite in both shorts and pants length for a couple of years. And now, it’s a favorite of mine to sew up when I’m making baby gifts! (Fox fabric from Flying Pig Fabrics)

The Max & Meena Parachute Pants recently had a name change, but is the same great pattern. I’ve made versions with both the inseam pockets and the patch pockets, as well as eliminating the pockets all together. I’ve never made the bum circle (famous in M&M’s Maxaloones pattern), and find they fit chunky babes and cloth diapers great just the way they are.

I love the huge size range: newborn to 16! Although, I’ve only made the 3months to 2/3T size. I love these in shorts length for babes learning to crawl because their little knees stayed covered!

The pair below are made from Blended Thread Fabrics Linen Look Cotton Lycra. This pair has inseam pockets! I like how the pants have plenty of room through the hip and butt, but taper down toward the ankle. I find that they don’t ride up this way and stay put quite well!

The pair below are made from double brushed polyester. They were worn through two winters, along with a few other pairs!

The pair below was made for a friend’s son. I had gifted them a pair over a year ago, and they requested another pair after nearly growing out of them. Yarn died Cotton Lycra stripes from Flying Pig Fabrics.

I’ve made probably around 15 pair in the last 2 years for my kiddo in shorts and pants and at least another 10 for baby gifts. Such a cute pattern for the little ones!
