Greenstyle – Strides

I finally found the motivation to try another legging pattern during Greenstyle’s 2019 Fit Capsule. I bought the pattern on discount excited to see the differences and for leggings with a tad less compression than the Super G Tights (written about here).

I measured myself and got started printing, tracing, and cutting the Greenstyle Strides. I measured into the low end of the medium, so I went with a straight medium. I took too long as usual in deciding the style I wanted to try out, but ultimately went with the cross cuff version. Remember that one time I mentioned trying more complicated part of the pattern on the first go? I wasn’t kidding. πŸ˜‚

I had a yard of this heavy circular knit from Phee Fabrics and some leftover athletic knit from Joann’s that looked great together. Because I didn’t have much of the pink fabric from Joann left, I opted for the Phee fabric on the cross cuffs.

The strides sewed up no problem. The directions were incredibly easy to follow (as usual for GS patterns). The cross cuss addition to the pattern is such a great touch!

I ended up taking in the waistband quite a bit. I could have probably gotten by with a straight small in this fabric. I’m still learning about stretch and recovery and how that affects the clothes I make-incredibly important for something like workout leggings that you don’t want moving around!

I do love the fit of the strides. I also really like the pockets. I’m not sure if I have a preference over these or the Super G’s, but I like how the stride pockets are only two layers.

Of course I had to sew up another pair right away. I used this luscious supplex from Phee Fabrics. This seriously is my favorite fabric for workout leggings. It is so smooth and soft with the right kind of thickness and stretch…. I could go on. πŸ™‚

But anyway, if you haven’t noticed, I’m pretty plain in my clothing. I love solids. Almost my entire fabric stash is solids. I was thinking the other day that I should venture out and at least mix and match my solids… but then the next three items I cut were all solids. πŸ˜‚

Oops, tangent again. Back to the strides. So, I made a medium this time with a small waistband. In this supplex the fit is perfect! So comfortable and stays put. I really like the bum detail on this pattern and how the pieces fit together. I opted for the cropped length and really like this length!

Of course I paired them with a Power Sports Bra! This is one that I hacked and wrote about here.

Do you have a go-to pattern for workout leggings? I’ve got another pair of strides planned… and these might be inching toward the top of my list! Grab the pattern here. Grab some Phee Supplex here… I just got the charcoal in yesterday and it is such a beautiful color!

As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!
