Good morning! I skipped last week, but am back at it! I’ve had a busy week at school, and haven’t had much time to blog… or sew. 🙂 This week’s words are planning, avoiding, and pinning!
Planning: I have done a much better job at planning my sews lately. Since I started my sewing notebook/journal at the beginning of the year, I have been able to keep track of sews I have done, and remind myself of what I want to sew next! I am now also looking to my closet to see what store bought clothing is due to be replaced, or what item I am looking for in my closet (plain grey tee was one this week!) that I don’t have. Having a list of projects that I want to tackle helps me complete projects faster as well. I can look at my list (which usually has fabric listed), grab the patterns and fabric and cut all at once. I tend to stick to mostly darker items or lighter items at a time so I don’t have to switch my serger threads between each project. Another thing this helps with is ordering fabric! When I want to order something, I can look to my list of future projects and see what fabric I may need to complete those. 🙂
Avoiding: Hmm, this one I have actually been better with! I used to avoid those hard projects or projects that I thought would take me longer. By signing up to promote patterns and fabrics or test new pdf patterns, I have to finish the items! If I were to sign up for something and not complete it (unless I had a good reason), I probably would not be asked back to test/promote for that company. This is part of what I love about sewing-challenging myself-so I have been doing my best to NOT avoid those “tougher” projects.
Pinning: Y’all, I have been on Pinterest so much lately. I have been pinning inspirations for sewing projects like crazy. I know I won’t get to everything, but it definitely helps me with future sewing projects and bringing that vision to life. I also like seeing the price tags on my inspiration photos and how I can make a similar outfit that fits me for a fraction of the cost! If you love to sew and haven’t tried this yet, I highly recommend it!
