Testing the GS Staple Tank

Guess what?? I was able to do another pattern test recently… and this tank is going to replace ALL my store bought layering tanks! Goodbye Target tanks and hello Greenstyle tanks! Introducing the Staple Tank!

This tank is a simple layering tank that can easily be worn alone. I live in tanks like this in the summer-either with lounge shorts or jean shorts. The arms and neckline can be finished with binding or bands. I prefer the look of binding myself, but many of the testers made theirs with bands and it looks great! The pattern comes in the normal Greenstyle sizes of XXS-3XL. Hurry and grab the pattern now while it is on sale until March 27th!

The first tank I sewed up during testing was in a double brushed polyester from Pretty Posh PrintsΒ (referral code for 10% off your first order!). This is the eggplant color. I love having a bunch of 1-2 yard cuts of DBP on hand for pattern testing or for trying a pattern for the first time. The fabric is less expensive and works with most top patterns! Plus, the inexpensive price is nice in case the first sew is a flop.

The second tank I sewed up was in a Cotton Lycra from Flying Pig Fabrics. This White A Train is one of my favorite prints from them! This is a more structured fabric, so you can see how it bunches a bit in the back. That is definitely from fabric choice and something to keep in mind when making the pattern! I could also probably do a sway back adjustment and make the fit perfect in this type of fabric.

I like the tank in a thicker fabric like this for wearing as a stand alone! It looks great with jeans for a more casual look!

The final tank I made during testing was this grey athletic jersey from Boho Fabrics. This is a more lightweight fabric than the last and lays much nicer. The thinner fabric will make this nice for wearing under long sleeved tops! I’ve also worn this working out or doing yard work. The fit of the tank makes it one that stays put and isn’t flopping when I bend over. This lightweight athletic jersey is also great for these 80 degree days that we’ve been having!

I have it paired with a new pair of Strides and Power Sports Bra here. πŸ™‚ I have a post coming soon with the hack for the back of this bra next week! I’ll also be posting a review of the Strides soon, as well. They may be my new favorite legging pattern…!

The Staple Tank will definitely be a staple in my closet (get it? πŸ™‚ ). Angelyn, the designer at Greenstyle, was spot on for choosing the name for this tank. I already have a few fabrics picked out to sew up my next few Staples. Plus, it is such a quick sew!
