This week I was able to participate in another Ellie & Mac Wacky Wednesday! As a reminder, every Wednesday, Ellie & Mac sets a few of their patterns on sale for $1. This is such a great way to build your pattern stash at such a low price!
The Undercover Hoodie is a unisex kids pattern. The pattern has color blocking options on the sleeves (I omitted them) and the hemline can be finished with a band or a drawstring. The big feature of this hoodie that makes it stand out from others is the large color blocked pocket in front!
The pattern, as always, was a breeze to sew up. The directions for the binding along the pocket was easy to follow and was not intimidating at all. The pocket construction was my favorite part of this pattern! As always, any patterns with color blocking are always a great way to use up scraps. 🙂
The Little measured into the top of size 2, so I opted for a size 3, knowing that we are at the end of hoodie weather here in Arizona. The size 3 is still a little big, so fingers crossed it fits next winter!
Both the navy and white yarn died stripes and the marigold solid yellow fabric are great quality Cotton/Lycra fabric from Flying Pig Fabrics. I buy all my solid CL from Flying Pig Fabrics because the quality cannot be beat! Her yarn died stripes are amazing, too, and she regularly runs more color combinations depending on what customers are looking for.
I would highly recommend this pattern if your are looking to mix up your hoodie collection for the littles! The large pocket is a must for toddlers as well. I don’t even know how much we had in there by the end of the day!
Also… you’re in luck! This pattern comes in women’s sizes as well! The Women’s Undercover Hoodie is also a part of the Wacky Wednesday sale today, so grab it while it’s on sale!!
