This pattern has three back options and two neck line options. I’ve made a couple different styles, and love them all!
The first version I made last summer was the rounded back and low neck option. I cannot remember where the fabric is from-it was in my stash. It feels like a nylon spandex, almost a swim material!
I love the look of the rounded back, but did end up putting a tack on the back to prevent it from opening every time I bent over. I also sized down for the next version. I have a (bad?) habit of sizing up sometimes instead of trusting my measurements.
I made another version out of athletic jersey fabric from Boho Fabrics. This time I used the back tie version, and it is love! I’ve worn this top working out and with black jeans for a casual outfit. I love when tops work for both.
For the holidays, I dug the pattern out again to make my brother’s girlfriend one. I ordered some light blue tricot from Phee Fabrics. This was my first time working with tricot! I sent the package off to Kansas City where my family was celebrating Christmas. 🙂
My aunt saw the top and requested one for herself. She was visiting here in Arizona and I sewed up a couple for her to choose from The first one was in a royal blue tricot from Phee Fabrics. I snuck some photos with the tops. 🙂
The second was made in this turquoise circular knit from Phee Fabrics. This was my first time working with light weight circular knit and I am so glad I have extra to make myself a top. It is so dreamy! Both of these tops are paired with a Power Sports Bra (blogged here)and Super G Tights (blogged here).
My aunt ended up taking both tops to try out! Both of them were the tie back version with a neckline in between the high and low lines.
I have plans to make another Xpress with the turquoise and grape circular knit from Phee for myself. I’m hoping to get at least one sewn up during the Greenstyle Fit Capsule Challenge that is happening now! But I also have about 5 items I want to make and very limited time… 🙂
As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Thanks for stopping by!
